Scientists are particularly interested in Saturn's moon Titan because it's one of the few known moons with its own dense atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere is also thought to be very similar to what Earth's atmosphere was a long time ago. By learning about Titan, we'll learn about our own planet.

Venus Express Has Reached Final Orbit

After 16 loops around the planet, Venus Express has reached its final operational orbit. The spacecraft's scientific mission is set to begin on June 4th.

The European Space Agency's Venus Express mission is a virtual twin sister of Mars Express, and will examine Venus with a similar suite of instruments. Most astrobiologists agree that life could not survive on Venus, yet a handful see an outside chance for biology there. Searching for signs of past or present life in the Solar System is an important goal of astrobiology.
