Scientists are particularly interested in Saturn's moon Titan because it's one of the few known moons with its own dense atmosphere. Titan's atmosphere is also thought to be very similar to what Earth's atmosphere was a long time ago. By learning about Titan, we'll learn about our own planet.

Possible Meteorite in 'Columbia Hills' on Mars

NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Spirit has observed two rocks on the 'Columbia Hills' of Mars that are suspected to be meteorites. The rocks look similar to the iron meteorite named 'Heat Shield Rock' that was discovered by Spirit's twin, Opportunity, in the Meridiani region of Mars more than a year ago.

Opportunity and Spirit successfully completed their primary three-month missions on Mars in April 2004. NASA has extended their missions in order to continue exploring Mars. Both rovers have found geological evidence of past wet environmental conditions on Mars that may have been hospitable to life. Because life as we know it requires water to survive, understanding the history of water on Mars can tell scientists a great deal about the potential for past or present life on the Red Planet.
