Lou Allamandola

Lou Allamandola is the Astrochemistry Laboratory Group leader at NASA-Ames Research Center. He has 20 years of experience in pioneering laboratory studies on the chemistry, composition, and spectroscopy of interstellar matter, with emphasis on interstellar and cometary ices. He is one of the key proponents and spokesmen of the interstellar polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) hypothesis and has been heavily involved in the laboratory studies of PAHs under relevant interstellar conditions. He also carries out astronomical observations in the infrared spectral range.
