Departments of Hydrology and Water Resources and Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering
University of Arizona
Dr. Ganapol, noted particle transport theorist and engineering
educator, received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering
from the University of California at Berkeley in 1966 and his MS in
Nuclear Engineering from Columbia University in 1967. He went on to
complete his Ph.D. in 1971 at the University of California at Berkeley
in engineering science. Before joining the faculty of the Department of
Nuclear Engineering at the University of Arizona in 1976, he held
positions at the Swiss Federal Institute for Reactor Research, Center
for Nuclear Studies at Saclay in France and Argonne National
Laboratory. His areas of interest have focused on the development of
solutions to the linear Boltzman equation with applications in nuclear
reactor physics, electron and charged particle transport and radiative
transfer associated with satellite remote sensing. Dr. Ganapol was
recently elected Fellow of the American Nuclear Society in recognition
of his research and teaching accomplishments.
