Dr. David Hollenbach is a senior research scientist at NASA-Ames and
the director of the Center for Star Formation Studies, a consortium of
theoretical astrophysicists from NASA-Ames, the University of California
at Berkeley, and the University of California at Santa Cruz researching
the origin of stars and planetary systems. He has been active in NASA's
airborne infrared astronomy program, most recently as a member of the
Science Working Group of the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared
Astronomy (SOFIA). He is also active in other infrared projects, including
the Infrared Space Observatory and the Submillimeter Wave Astronomical
Satellite. He has served on advisory and executive committees of NASA,
the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Astronomical
Society. His research interests include star and planetary system
formation, the interstellar medium, astrochemistry, and infrared astronomy.
