Departments of Plant and Microbial Biology and of Molecular and Cell Biology

University of California, Berkeley

Dr. Norman Pace received the Ph.D. degree at the University of Illinois, Urbana. He held positions at the National Jewish Hospital and Research Center, the University of Colorado Medical Center, and Indiana University before moving in 1996 to the University of California, Berkeley, as Professor in the Departments of Plant and Microbial Biology and of Molecular and Cell Biology. Pace wears two scientific hats. He is a molecular biologist whose laboratory has made substantive contributions to our understanding of nucleic acid structure and processing. He is also a microbial ecologist whose laboratory has been conspicuous in the adaptation of molecular tools to the study of microbial ecosystems.
