Gravitational Research Branch
NASA-Ames Research Center
Ten years ago, Muriel Ross moved to NASA-Ames Research Center from the
University of Michigan, where she was a Professor in the Department of
Anatomy and Cell Biology. At Ames, she has pursued computational
approaches to the study of biology and medicine by founding the
Biocomputation Center. She has participated in two spaceflights,
SLS-1 and SLS-2, to study the influence of microgravity on synaptic
plasticity in rodent gravity sensors. This work has been complemented
by hypergravitational research (2G centrifugation), 3-D reconstruction
and dynamic computer simulation of neuronal elements in gravity receptors.
