Scott Sandford

Dr. Scott Sandford is a research astrophysicist/astrochemist at NASA's Ames Research Center. As a member of the Astrochemistry Laboratory, he works on a variety of projects associated with the detection and identification of ices and organics in the interstellar medium and in comets and other solar system objects. This work is largely done through a combination of laboratory and telescopic spectroscopy, especially in the infrared. He also studies the synthesis of new compounds formed in astrophysical environments from these materials, with an emphasis on compounds of exobiological interest.
